West Kalimantan Police Confirms BP2TD Corruption Cases Continue To Run

The West Kalimantan Regional Police stated that the alleged corruption case in the construction of the Mempawah BP2TD Building which caused state losses of Rp 32 billion was still ongoing.

The statement was made by the Head of Public Relations of the West Kalimantan Police, Kombes Raden Petit Wijaya, answering the issue of omission or termination of the process of handling the case.

"It's not true. There is no impression of approaching or allowing this case," Petit told reporters Thursday, November 21.

It is known that the BP2TD case began to be investigated by the West Kalimantan Regional Police in 2020. RN, who is a candidate for Governor of West Kalimantan, is one of the parties who has repeatedly been questioned by the police as a witness.

Petit conveyed that the handling of this case was indeed temporarily postponed. This refers to the official telegram (ST) regarding law enforcement rules during the 2024 election process. Namely ST/1160/V/RES.1.24.2023.

"Once again I emphasize that it is not suspended or stopped, but temporarily postponed," said Petit.

The explanation is also a form of response to a number of anti-corruption activists who are members of the West Kalimantan Youth Millennial Movement (GMP). Because they had visited the West Kalimantan Police on Monday, November 18.

"We received information that the case that dragged the Regent of Mempawah for the 2009-2014 and 2014-2018 periods, as well as his wife, was suspended or stopped by the West Kalimantan Police," said West Kalimantan GMP Chairman Dwi Wahyudi.

According to him, this information or issue needs to be straightened out by asking for a direct explanation from the West Kalimantan Regional Police. This is because the Supreme Court (MA) decision index in 2024 is 231 pages thick, mentioning the involvement of one of the candidates for governor of West Kalimantan on behalf of RN.

"This makes people wonder, because in this copy there are so many mentions of H Ria Norsan's name that it causes anxiety in the community," said Dwi.

Bearing in mind, it will soon enter the stage of simultaneous Pilkada voting. So, the public needs to know the correctness of the information circulating so as not to raise public questions.

"Moreover, this case has been rolling for a long time. Why is there no clarity point to this day," said Dwi.

Another West Kalimantan GMP representative, Edi Setiawan, encouraged the West Kalimantan Police to answer all public questions related to the case. He is optimistic that the West Kalimantan Police will work seriously and professionally.

"If this case has not been completed, please resolve it according to the law. There should be no selective slashing in legal cases, let alone corruption cases. This is in order to uphold a sense of justice," he said.

Edi believes that the people of West Kalimantan definitely want a quality and clean leader, not to be involved in corruption cases.

"If so, it will hamper the pace of development. We urge all levels of society not to choose the wrong leader on November 27, 2024," said Edi.
