JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of DPD RI Sultan B Najamudin said the government needed to prepare regulations that could encourage local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to understand market demand. The goal is that MSMEs can compete with foreign brands.

This was said by the Sultan in response to President Joko Widodo's instructions to love domestic products and hate foreign products.

Apart from the regulations, the Sultan asked the Ministry of Trade to have a strategy. One of them is ordering malls to place local brands or brands at the front or near the entrance.

"By presenting local products in front of the malls, this is a smart trading strategy. So that the eyes of the producers are directly focused on local products," Sultan told reporters in Jakarta, Friday, March 5.

In addition, the former Bengkulu Deputy Governor urged the government to appeal to mall managers to provide low rental rates for local brands.

He hopes that this strategy can advance MSME players who were hit by the COVID-19 pandemic storm a year ago.

"I hope this strategy goes well, so that the struggling MSMEs can find a path to success," hoped this HIPMI cadre.

"Remember, these MSME actors are the backbone of the national economy," he stressed.

Sultan admitted that he warmly welcomed President Jokowi's echo about the love of Indonesian products. According to him, with this call, the public can become loyal consumers of domestic products.

"270 million Indonesians, I think if everyone loves local products, it will make domestic producers even more excited. The quality of domestic products is also global, so Indonesian products are actually global," said Sultan.

Previously, President Jokowi announced that people began to hate foreign products and turn to love domestic products. This aims to increase sales from local producers in the future.

The number one person in the country emphasized that the love for local products will place micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in a strategic place.
