JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has officially stopped investigating the case of the alleged attack by the six members of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI).

Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono, said the case was terminated because the suspects had died. Thus, the status of a suspect does not apply by law.

"The assault case on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road has been stopped. That way, the investigation and the status of the suspect have been dropped", Argo said in his statement, Thursday, March 4.

The termination of this case, said Argo, refers to Article 109 of the Criminal Procedure Code. This article contains the question of terminating the investigation because the suspect has passed away.

Meanwhile, for the case of unlawful killing, Argo said that there was already a Police Report (LP) for the basis of the investigation. Currently, three Regional Police Metro Jaya police have the status of being reported according to the recommendation of Komnas HAM (The Indonesian National Human Rights Commission).

"Komnas HAM recommendations and findings, we have carried out. Currently, it is still in process", he said.

The Police Criminal Investigation Agency named 6 Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) troops as suspects in the case of assaulting members of the National Police during the clash on the Jakarta-Cikampek KM 50 toll road.

"Yes, they are 6 suspects (FPI Troops)", said the Director of General Crimes at The Police Criminal Investigation Agency, Brigadier General Andi Rian.

Andi then explained a little about the suspect's determination by using Article 170 of the Criminal Code. In fact, the 6 FPI Troops had died.

He said this was by the investigation process regarding the case of assault against members of the National Police. Later, the matter of whether the case will be submitted or not to court is the authority of the Prosecutor's Office.
