Solo Auto Residents Are Proud! Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Builds Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Its Design Is Similar To The Abu Dhabi Grand Mosque

JAKARTA - Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, said that the construction of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque and the Islamic Center will be designed to resemble the Abu Dhabi Grand Mosque. The building which will become the center of religious education was a gift from Prince of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mohammed bin Zayed Nahyan.

"We, the citizens of Solo, are especially grateful for the attention from the United Arab Emirates, of course this is an effort to strengthen friendship between countries," Gibran said on his Instagram account, gibran_rakabuming, as reported by VOI, Thursday, March 4.

The Syeikh Zayed Mosque was built on an area of 2.9 hectares on the land of the former Pertamina depot located on Jl. Ahmad Yani No. 191, Gilingan, Banjarsari, Surakarta City.

On Saturday, March 6, the groundbreaking process will take place. "We hope that the construction of the mosque and Islamic Center will run smoothly and according to the agenda. Hopefully what has been planned for the benefit of the people will be blessed by Allah SWT," said Gibran.

Reporting from the surakarta.go.id website page, Wednesday, March 3, yesterday, the eldest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conducted a site visit.

According to Gibran, when visiting the former Pertamina depot, the Surakarta City Government has also provided land for an Islamic Center to be built around the RSJ location or the Kenting area, Jebres District, behind the UNS campus.

"We are closer to the campus. Later on, we hope that it will manage the academics," he added.
