COVID-19 Update As Of February 24: New 7.533 Cases From Examination Of 73.014 Specimens

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 73.014 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 7.533 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia reached 1.306.141 people and as many as 158.162 active cases", data quoted from the Ministry of Health, Wednesday, February 24.

Cases recovered today increased by 7.735 cases so that a total of 1.112.725 people recovered. Then, the confirmed positive cases who died increased by 240 people and a total of 35.254 people.

The province with the newest cases was in West Java with 2.191 cases and a total of 204.706 cases. Followed by Central Java which has 1.262 new cases with a total of 150.598 cases. DKI Jakarta has 782 new cases and a total of 332.658 cases. Then, East Java has 580 new cases and a total of 127.593 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an increase of 2.443 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an increase of 1.379 recovered cases, Central Java with an increase of 548 recovered cases, and East Java with an increase of 541 recovered cases.

No province reported having zero cases as of today. The province that reported the fewest new cases was Gorontalo with 2 cases.

In addition, the number of specimens examined reached 10.574.891. In detail, 10.423.941 specimens were examined using real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 150.950 using molecular rapid tests (TCM).

"The cumulative positive results per number of people examined or a positivity rate of 18.5 percent", he wrote.

For the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, it was recorded at 77.512 people. Currently, 510 districts/cities from 34 provinces have cases of COVID-19.

Furthermore, currently, there are 1.363.138 people who have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 825.650 vaccines for the second dose. Meanwhile, the total vaccination targets reached 181.554.465 people.
