JAKARTA - The National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) has not been able to conclude the results of the investigation of the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 plane crash. The reason is that the NTSC still has to wait for the results of the inspection of aircraft components sent to the United States and Britain.

"We sent several components to America and the UK," said KNKT Chairman Soerjanto Tjahjono in a working meeting with related parties with Commission V DPR RI regarding the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 accident which was broadcast on the official Facebook of the Indonesian Parliament, Wednesday, February 3.

One of the components sent to the two countries is auto-throttle. The system that controls the engine power settings of this aircraft has 13 parameters or conditions.

"From this component, it can be seen which of the 13 parameters is damaged which makes changes to the auto-throttle," he said.

While waiting for these results, the NTSC is also trying to find a cockpit voice recorder (CVR), which until now has not known its memory. This search process, said Soerjanto, was still being carried out.

Apart from that, his party will also check other components such as auto-thratle computer, auto-thratle actuator assembly, flight control computer, and ground proximity warning system (GPWS).

"We will read when the plane (condition, red) is at the last moment and maybe we can download some of the information needed, such as the problems that occurred during the flight," said Soerjanto.

Not only that, the NTSC will also simulate the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 accident. This process is carried out using the flight engineering simulator method. "We will carry out this (simulation) with a flight engineering simulator at an American manufacturer," he explained.

As previously reported, the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 aircraft on the Jakarta-Pontianak route lost contact in the Thousand Islands shortly after taking off from Soekarno Hatta Airport on Saturday, January 9, 2020.

The authorities later confirmed that the plane crashed around Male Island and Lancang Island, Thousand Islands at around 14:40 WIB.

The number of passengers who took part in the unfortunate flight consisted of 56 aircraft passengers and 6 crew members. After the incident, the number of passengers who have been identified has reached 58 out of a total of 62 people.
