Megawati Will Listen To The Input Of Cadres Before Joining The Prabowo-Gibran Government

JAKARTA - The chairman of the PDI-P DPP, Said Abdullah, talked about the possibility of his party joining the Prabowo-Gibran government coalition. Said emphasized that the political direction of the PDIP in the future will be determined by PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri. However, according to him, Megawati will definitely listen to the input of the cadres before deciding to be inside or outside the new government.

"The authority regarding the political direction of the PDI-P is determined by the General Chair," said Said Abdullah, Friday, April 26. "Of course, Megawati will receive input from the ranks of the PDI-P DPP and cross- figures before deciding the coalition or opposition," he continued. Furthermore, Said said that there are two agendas both internally and externally to improve the quality of electoral democracy that must be pursued by PDIP in the future.

Regarding the internal agenda, Said said, PDIP needs to improve the quality of cadres at all levels through tiered regeneration. PDIP, he said, also needs to strengthen consolidation of ideology, organization, programs, resources and cadres.

Meanwhile, on the external agenda, Said said that there were many steps that the PDIP had to take. First, evaluate the total implementation of legislative and executive elections. Especially the implementation of the 2024 election as a point of view for changes to the 2029 election, so that the electoral democratic process runs more quality.

"The evaluation of the 2024 election has at least been stated in the Political Attitude of the PDI-P DPP dated April 22, 2024," said Said.

Second, the matter of election practices that are transactional and make political costs very expensive. According to Said, those who pass the electoral need a large political cost so that not all PDI-P cadres who are ideological and understand the character and character of the party can face this situation. "Therefore, the PDI-P does not recede to fight for elections proportionally closed together with more modern political party reforms, placing regeneration as a political merit," said Said.

Third, togetherness or mutual cooperation is a reflection of the nation's soul. Said emphasized that with mutual cooperation, the Indonesian nation could go through the COVID-19 pandemic and stronger economic recovery. "This is an important lesson for us as a nation," he said.

Fourth, invite all elements of the nation, especially strategic stakeholders in the implementation of simultaneous regional head elections (pilkada) in November 2024, to maintain electoral democracy better than elections. So that the elections in the future will not be replaced from fighting ideas and track records into fighting for money and power.

"We have to place the regional elections as capital for the recruitment of national leadership. Therefore, we need the process to run quality," concluded Said.
