Polri: Pure South Kalimantan Floods Weather Factors Not Due To Exploitation Of Nature

JAKARTA - Bareskrim Polri said the flood incident that occurred in South Kalimantan was due to weather factors. The National Police dismissed allegations that the cause of the South Kalimantan flood was natural exploitation.

"Bareskrim has already deployed a team. In fact, why the flood was due to the fact that the rainfall was very high at that time from the BMKG there," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono to reporters, Friday, January 22.

Rusdi said the team from the Directorate of Certain Crimes (Dittipdter) had gone down to the location to conduct an investigation, including inspecting the areas most severely affected by the floods.

From the investigation, there was no suspicion about exploitation of nature.

"The results of the field visit from Bareskrim are like that. Bareskrim has already gone to South Kalimantan. What can be seen is that the results of BMKG at that time were extremely high," he said.

Meanwhile, when asked about the request for information from related agencies, Rusdi said he had not addressed this. From the search results, South Kalimantan floods caused by natural factors.

"Oh no, indeed at that time Bareskrim confirmed that the flood was due to weather factors at that time. There was no other action yet," he said.

Previously, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy said the large floods that occurred in South Kalimantan (South Kalimantan) were suspected to be the result of natural exploitation.

"The Coordinating Minister for PMK does not deny that exploitation of nature is one of the causes of large floods in South Kalimantan. Incorrect and reckless natural management, he said, causes catastrophic natural disasters," was quoted as saying in the official press release of the Coordinating Ministry for PMK.

However, natural factors are also very influential. This is because South Kalimantan is an area that is not predicted to experience the impact of La Nina.

"As far as I remember, South Kalimantan was one of the areas that was not expected to face the impact of this La Nina storm. But our name is we can predict, we can make efforts, but in the end God is the one who determines," he said.
