Results Of The FPI Laskar Case Investigation Handed Over To Jokowi, Komnas HAM: Hopefully It Will Be Processed Soon

JAKARTA - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) has submitted the results of the investigation into the shooting of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) troops on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road or what they call the Karawang Incident to President Joko Widodo.

Commissioner and Chairman of the Komnas HAM Investigation Team Choirul Anam said this report submitted to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was 103 pages long and had been compiled in detail.

"Earlier we submitted a complete report. This report has 103 pages added with attachments," said Anam in a press conference held at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Office after meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, Thursday, January 14.

Apart from submitting the report, Komnas HAM also attached a flashdisk containing a number of documents related to the incident. "And everything has been written in this report. So this report is quite detailed," he said.

Furthermore, he said Jokowi gave a good response from the submitted report. So, he hopes that in the future, the government can solve this case optimally.

"We hope that this case can be resolved soon and we can learn a lot from this case that in any name, violence in this country should not happen," he said.

"Apart from that, every effort by anyone who also commits violence must be prevented, we must avoid it," added Choirul.

Meanwhile, in the same location, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD stated that he would continue the Komnas HAM report on this incident. He even promised not to cover up the case.

"Later we will reveal it in court and we will not cover it up and I will continue this to the police," said the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK).

Moreover, President Jokowi has advised himself to guard all recommendations submitted by Komnas HAM. "The president, after meeting with him for a long time, invited me to speak, hoping to be escorted so that all Komnas HAM recommendations are followed up. Nothing is allowed to be hidden," he said.
