LDNU Release Annuls On Wahhabism, PBNU Secretary General: No Approval Of Rais Aam And General Chairman

JAKARTA - The Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) issued special instructions regarding guidelines for the delivery of public information to all institutions, autonomous bodies, and special bodies under PBNU.

This guideline was issued following the release of the NU Da'wah Institute (LDNU) which was considered counterproductive and caused various interpretations in the community.

"The release of LDNU is counter-productive and has never been consulted with PBNU, especially Rais Aam and the General Chair (Ketum). They don't consult on issues as important as this and don't inform them," said PBNU Secretary General Saifullah Yusuf alias Gus Ipul in a written statement, as quoted from Antara, Monday, October 31.

According to Gus Ipul, regarding this matter, PBNU also immediately issued an instruction numbered 225/PB.03/A.I.03.41/99/10/2022 which was signed by General Chairperson KH Yahya Cholil Staquf and Secretary General Saifullah Yusuf.

There are several points in the instruction, including the instructions not to make strategic statements, especially religious matters, before getting approval from Rais Aam and the General Chair of PBNU.

"All the results of deliberation issued by institutions, special agencies, and autonomous bodies must be reported to PBNU in this case Rais Aam and the General Chair of PBNU for approval," he said.

He emphasized that if there is an institution that releases something before getting PBNU's approval, then the release can be ignored because it is not an official decision of the association.

For your information, this PBNU instruction was issued following the emergence of a number of recommendations from LD PBNU as a result of the IX LD PBNU National Working Meeting which was held at Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory, Jakarta, Thursday 27 October.

The results of the LD PBNU recommendations include asking the Indonesian government to prohibit the spread of certain religious beliefs.

Previously, LDNU urged the Indonesian government to make regulations prohibiting the spread of Wahhabism. LD PBNU also requested that the permit to hold the HijrahFest or HijabFest festival be revoked.

The recommendation to the government was contained in one of the points of the LD PBNU National Working Meeting (Rakernas) which was held at the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory, East Jakarta from 25-27 October 2022.
