SURABAYA - Smoke appears at the food court (food court) on the 5th floor of Tunjungan Plaza (TP) 1 on Jalan Jenderal Basuki Rahmat. City of Surabaya, East Java.

"Yes, that's right, the TP 1 on the 5th floor was seen with smoke," said Head of the Surabaya City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Ridwan Mubarun, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 17.

Information obtained by ANTARA, smoke appeared at TP 1 at around 17.00 WIB. Smoke appeared first in one of the outlets. At that time, there were quite a number of visitors at the TP, so when they found out there was a fire, visitors immediately ran out.

"I was surprised when a PMK officer entered the TP. It turned out to be a fire, I immediately went out," said one visitor to TP 1, Hamid.

According to Ridwan, officers from the BPBD and the Fire Department (PMK) have been dispatched to TP 1. Likewise, a number of fire engines have been deployed.

"It was only the exhaust fan motor that caught fire," he said.

However, when the officers arrived, it turned out that the fire had been successfully extinguished by local employees using a light fire extinguisher (Apar).

"Visitors panicked because the smoke was a lot and spread. But now it's gone. It's safe," he said.
