PALEMBANG - Dozens of street vendors (PKL) in the Fort Kuto Besak (BKB) area, Palembang, South Sumatra (South Sumatra) were brought under control by the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP).

Head of the Public Order and Community Development Division of the Palembang Satpol PP, Cherly Panggar Besi, said that the control was carried out to sterilize the BKB area from the street vendors.

Because, he said, the BKB area would be the venue for the flag ceremony for the 77th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia on Wednesday (17/8).

The control has been officially conveyed to the street vendors using a circular from the Mayor of Palembang.

"So we have given time until August 11 to stop selling again, if it is not heeded, we will take action to control the Satpol PP together with the TNI and Polri," said Cherly as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 5.

In addition, he said that the street vendors were actually prohibited from operating in the BKB area.

When referring to the regional regulation of the Palembang City Government regarding the existence of Kuto Besak Fort, he also said, the area is a green open space tourist area.

"The content of the regulation states that green open spaces are prohibited from being a place to carry out business activities such as street vendors in this fort," he said.

Cherly hopes that the traders can cooperate in obeying the orders of the Satpol PP.
