Unlike Golkar, PAN, PPP Declare United Indonesia Coalition, PDIP: We Can Also Without Coalition

JAKARTA - The PDI-P has stressed that it will not rush to announce a coalition in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres). Moreover, without a coalition the party bearing the bull symbol could carry the president.

"For the record, the only party that can carry the president, yes, is PDIP. Without a coalition it can also be done," Junimart told reporters in Jakarta, Tuesday, May 17.

After all, the affairs of the coalition are the affairs of the PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri. Cadres, continued Junimart, only follow the decisions that have been taken.

In addition, PDIP believes that many parties will join them in the 2024 presidential election. However, Junimart does not want to reveal who will join his party.

"We don't have to say. There are many. Surely many know who went to Teuku Umar (Megawati Soekarnoputri's house, ed)," he said.

As for the possibility of forming a coalition with the Gerindra Party, Junimart was efficient at speaking. In fact, the General Chair of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto, had visited Megawati Soekarnoputri's house during the Idul Fitri holiday.

Both visits were conducted behind closed doors and went well. The atmosphere of the meeting went smoothly.

"(Pak Prabowo's visit, ed) is just a signal," he said.

As previously reported, the General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, held a meeting with PAN Chair Zulkifli Hasan and PPP General Chair Suharso Monoarfa in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, Thursday, May 12.

Airlangga said the meeting was a gathering in the context of Eid al-Fitr. However, he did not deny that there had been coalition talks for the 2024 presidential election.

Meanwhile, PPP General Chair Suharso Monoarfa said they wanted to announce as early as possible the cooperation that would be established before the 2024 general election began, as well as strengthen the togetherness of these three political parties. The coalition between Golkar, PAN, and PPP was named the United Indonesia Coalition.

"We want to show or demonstrate a much earlier and more beautiful collaboration between political parties to complement each other and to strengthen each other's togetherness for the same things," said Suharso.
