Jakarta Street Jazz Festival 2024 Offers New Atmosphere To Enjoy Music

JAKARTA - For the first time, the jazz music festival which is being played on the streets will be held in Jakarta. Liberty Productions will hold a Jakarta Street Jazz Festival (JSJF) on Jalan Falatehan Blok M, South Jakarta on Sunday, May 5.

This event will present big names on national jazz decrees that have experienced a lot, such as Candra Darusman, Dwiki Dharmawan, Oele Pattiselano, Ermy Kulit, Atiek CB, Iga Mawarni, Syaharani, Mus Mujiono, Fariz RM, Agam Hamzah, Yance Manusama, and Eddy Syakroni.

Not only that, singers and musicians from a newer generation will also perform, such as Sandhy Sondoro, Tompi, Andien, Barry Likumahuwa Project, to Gugun Blues Shelter.

Andi Anita S Sutphin as Creative & Talent Director of Liberty Productions said the JSJF event was inspired by a music festival in New Orleans, United States known as the birthplace of jazz music. Not only music festivals, this event will be a cultural festival.

"In New Orleans, the festival was made lively and on the streets. There are dances, parades, and all kinds of things. From there, we try to create a different jazz festival in Jakarta," said Andi Anita during a press conference in Blok M, South Jakarta, Friday, April 26.

JSJF will present three musical stages with dozens of musicians who will appear alternately. Not only music, this event also presents other arts and invites various communities to MSMEs to attend.

Candra Darusman as one of the performers who has been involved in many jazz music festivals admits the uniqueness of JSJF. He saw that jazz played on the streets was a breakthrough in itself, considering that jazz is often identified with its exclusivity.

There are indeed many jazz festivals, and those who distinguish are the location. I think JSJF is different because this is not only for musicians, but also for MSMEs and other things that are here," said Candra.

jazz music is familiar, fluid and formal music, so with that, the exclusive view of jazz can change to be closer to the community. Because jazz can basically collaborate with anything," he continued.

In line with what has been mentioned, Fariz RM sees this event as unique because it is held on weekends.

"Adding what has been said, I think this is unique because it played on Sunday. So imagine parents and children can come and enjoy Jakarta from morning to evening," said Fariz.

Meanwhile, the JSJF which is held in collaboration with the local government will close Jalan Falatehan during the event. The public can attend without having to buy an entrance ticket. This event is also part of an effort to support awareness of the environment.

"This event was held simultaneously with car free day, so we support the Jakarta Regional Government's agenda to create a better environment," said Andi Anita.
