The Trans Sumatra Toll Road Is Targeted To Be Completely Completed In 2024

JAKARTA - The government will build 2,500 kilometers (km) of toll roads in 2020-2024. Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) Danang Parikesit said that 2,000 km of the target is the Trans Sumatra Toll Road network.

"The 2,000 km stretch will stretch from Lampung to Aceh. It is targeted that all construction can be completed by 2024," said Danang in a written statement, Tuesday, December 31.

Danang also said that some of the already operating Trans Sumatra toll roads could shorten the travel time for road users going home for the Christmas 2019 and New Year 2020 holidays. The government hopes that with additional routes in the next five years it will be able to connect locations that are far from public access in along the cross Sumatra.

In addition, BPJT also noted an increase in Trans Sumatra toll road users since December 28, 2019. At least 838,707 vehicles have crossed the toll road that is still being built.

The largest increase occurred at the Bakauheni toll gate (GT) with 147,197 vehicles or an increase of 16,615 vehicles compared to normal times.

"The enthusiasm of toll road users passing the Trans Sumatra toll road, both from Lampung to Palembang and vice versa, has increased significantly to 24,330 vehicles," he said.

The increase in passenger volume also occurred at the Palembang toll gate as many as 91,346 vehicles with the difference in the increase of 8,966 vehicles, the Indralaya GT by 90,627 and is predicted to continue to increase until the end of Nataru.

Meanwhile, the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road Section I, which has been opened functionally since December 23, also experienced an increase in vehicle volume, namely as much as 4,389 vehicles with a total accumulation of 22,895 private vehicles passing through the Pekanbaru GT.

Meanwhile, on the Binjai GT on December 27, the number of vehicles leaving and entering reached 151,222 vehicles as of December 28 the incoming vehicles reached 171,637 thousand drivers.

Then, on the GT Kayu Agung, which on December 27 only had 164,665 riders, however on December 28 the number of motorists had increased to reach 188,995 vehicles.

To note, the Trans Sumatra Toll Road has been operating along 467.6 km. The sections that are already operational are Bakauheni - Terbanggi Besar 141 km, Terbanggi Besar - Pematang Banggang-Kayu Agung along 189 km, Palembang - Indralaya 22 km, Medan - Binjai 10.46 km, Medan - Kualanamu - Tebing Tinggi 62.2 km and Belawan - Medan - Tanjung Morawa 43 km.

Furthermore, for the five sections of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road along 311.26 km are targeted to be operational in 2020. The five sections are the Sigli - Banda Aceh (74 km) Toll, Medan - Binjai Section 1 (Simpang Susun Helvetia - Simpang Susun Tanjung Mulia). ) along 6.27 km, Pekanbaru - Dumai (131.4 km), Padang - Pekanbaru Section I Padang - Sic Cincin (30.4 km), and the Kayuagung - Palembang-Betung toll road sections 2 and 3 Jakabaring-Betung (69.19 km).
