SEMARANG - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo passed New Year's Eve by observing the flooding at a number of points in the city of Semarang.

Moving around 21.00 WIB, Ganjar went straight to the first flood point on Jalan Gajah, Gayamsari District. Ganjar had stopped at the intersection of the Soekarno Hatta arterial road and had a dialogue with the residents.

"Here, sir, the water coming from there (from the direction of Medoho) is bigger, so here the channel is not smooth," said a resident to Ganjar, Friday, December 31.

When walking, Ganjar seemed to be limping. A number of people then realized that the sandals worn by the number one person were broken. Practically that moment broke laughter, and Ganjar was no exception.

"Loh sir, the governor's sandals broke," said a number of residents.

"Yes, my sandals are messy," joked Ganjar, making the atmosphere nervous.

Some of the residents later said that flooding also occurred on Jalan Tambak Dalam, Sawah Besar. The flood there, according to residents, was due to overflow from the East Flood Canal River.

Ganjar immediately went to the next point, namely Pasar Waru Pump House. The puddle of water along the Tambak Dalam road makes traveling vehicles have to be extra careful and at low speed.

However, there was no panic from the residents. A number of residents who were met actually greeted Ganjar cheerfully. Dozens of children also seemed to be playing.

"Let's keep our distance, who wants to play. Don't fight, one by one," said Ganjar greeting the residents and distributing toys to the children there.

Arriving at the Pasar Waru Pump House, Ganjar immediately went down and checked. The pump house officer reported that out of a total of six pumps, only five were active. It's just not explained how long the damage occurred and when it would be repaired.

Met after the review, Ganjar said that in general the pump house was functioning well. Only one pump is not working optimally.

“This just ensures that the pump is running, and thank God it's running. There is only one problem and we have to deal with it because the operator had to be regulated, but the important thing is that this way will be able to help," said Ganjar at the Pasar Waru Pump House.

Ganjar said the flood review was carried out after he received a report from residents at around 18.00 WIB. Its development continued to be monitored until around 20.00 it was reported that the flood had begun to recede.

"So I make sure some of these pumps can run. If the pump can run, God willing, if the rain is a bit high, it can be sucked in and thank God it's clear, hopefully it won't be a problem," he said.

Ganjar himself saw that residents at flood points were relatively more prepared. "Earlier I passed in a flooded area, right, the people on the left and right were also ready, it seems, even on dangdut," joked Ganjar.
