When DKI Provincial Government Blames Private Vendors When Infiltration Wells Are Broken

JAKARTA - Recently, infiltration wells or vertical drainage in the capital city have been in the spotlight. Towards the end of the year, the DKI Provincial Government is speeding up the construction of vertical drainage to reach 26 thousand points by the end of December 2021.

Unfortunately, a number of infiltration wells made were damaged. One of them is what the comic Soleh Solihun complained about. Soleh said that the construction of the infiltration well on Jalan Intan, Cilandak, South Jakarta was only carried out a month ago. Turns out, the cover was broken.

Then, the cover of the absorption well on Jalan Karang Tengah, Lebak Bulus also collapsed. So, local residents put flower pots to mark so that motorized vehicle users do not pass.

In response to this, the Secretary of the Water Resources Department, Dudi Gardesi, handed over the responsibility for the problem of damage to infiltration wells to the private vendor working on it.

This is because, so far, the construction of vertical drainage has been carried out by contractors who are partners with the DKI Provincial Government, according to the results of the auction. The DKI Provincial Government handed over the budget from the APBD to the contractor.

"The infiltration well is still the responsibility of the contractor, the responsibility of the vendor. If there is a construction company that builds an infiltration well that is damaged, we will ask to fix it," Dudi told reporters, Thursday, December 2.

Moreover, Dudi said that the DKI Provincial Government has made a benchmark for the quality of the infiltration well construction following the regulations set by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).

Then, the technical approach is left to the vendor who works on the infiltration well, as long as the quality is appropriate and can withstand the load. "The point is that when you are there, you have to have the strength to withstand such a burden," said Dudi.

The price of making infiltration wells

Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria briefly explained the price range for constructing one infiltration well. Riza explained that there are two types of infiltration wells, namely the buis-concrete type and the modular type.

"For Buis Beton, the price is around 13.2 million for the heavy-duty perforated concrete type, this is the most expensive price for Adhi Mix. As for the Modular type, the price is around 7.3 million per m3 (cubic meter)," said Riza.

For 2022, the Water Resources Service (SDA) will focus on reservoir-type vertical drainage. This infiltration well is one type whose function is to collect rainwater.

"The vertical drainage of the infiltration well type will be carried out by the service tribes as has been done now," he added
