Having Fun Showering In The Rain, 9-year-old Boy Slipped And Fell Into The Water Channel, Carried To The Duren Sawit BKT
JAKARTA - A boy with the initials ABP (9) a resident of Pondok Kopi Village, Duren Sawit Sub-district, disappeared after being swept away by the flow of the Connecting River (PHB) on Robusta street, Pondok Kopi, East Jakarta. The victim fell into the PHB river because he slipped while on the edge of the channel when it was raining.
Head of Platoon Company C Fire Fighting Sector Duren Sawit, Basith Hanafi, said the boy was swept away in the connecting channel which leads to the flooded east canal (BKT) near SDN 08 Pondok Kopi.
"According to his parents, the victim was washed away while playing in the rain with his friends at around 14:00 western Indonesia time," said Basith at the location of the search for the East Flood Canal, Monday, November 1.
When the victim was swept away, three friends who played with him tried to help by reaching the victim's hand. Unfortunately, the attempt failed because of the strong current.

The victim was swept away in a channel with a width of about 50 centimeters and a depth of about 40 centimeters whose flow was directed to the connecting channel and then the East Flood Canal (KBT).
"Residents have tried to find victims, but have not found them. At around 15.00 western Indonesia time, residents reported the incident to the fire department, we immediately went to the location to search," he said.
Basith said, after receiving the report, his party immediately went to the scene of the incident and then resumed searching for the victim to make sure the victim was saved.
Unfortunately, these efforts did not yield any results, so the search was extended to the stream (KBT) which is about three kilometers from the location of the drowning victim heading to Cakung.
"We are still trying to find it, hopefully, it can be found soon. We are also coordinating with members in the Cakung Sector, because the flow of KBT is heading to the Cakung District area," he said.
Searches continued along the KBT by joint firefighters and Basarnas until Monday, November 1, evening.
