Struggle Story Of National Kickboxing Athlete, Brian Lawitan Participates In One Pride MMA Audition: Willing To Sell Motorcycle!

JAKARTA - Mix Martial Art (MMA) athlete, Brian Lawitan is currently proud of his achievements. Success in being ranked first in the One Pride MMA ranking to becoming a national kickboxing athlete, who would have thought that Brian's struggle to be at this point turned out to be quite heavy.

Through a short video uploaded to the One Pride MMA YouTube account, Brian shared his struggles to become an MMA athlete. The man from Manado admitted that he had to sell his motorbike to be able to audition for One Pride MMA in Jakarta.

Early knowing that the MMA audition was held in Jakarta, Brian - who was still living in Manado - admitted that he was challenged. He was determined to prove himself and took part in the audition.

"Wow, there was an MMA audition at that time in Kelapa Gading and I felt challenged. If other people can do it, why can't I," Brian opened his story.

Regarding the news of the One Pride MMA audition, Brian claimed to have received information from his colleague. With confidence and curiosity, the 25-year-old man was determined to audition with two other colleagues, namely Andi Pakarianto and Rizal Umboh.

As a form of seriousness in participating in the One Pride MMA audition in Jakarta, Brian and two other colleagues continued to make careful preparations. They carry out various exercises and guidance, even through video-sharing channels.

"I was working at the time and heard that there was an offer for this audition. Before we left, we practiced via YouTube on how to grow it. Before that, Paul Lumihi and Ardi Lumihi came to Manado, we joined together and asked to be taught," he explained.

Although he had made physical and mental preparations to be able to audition for MMA in Jakarta, apparently there were other things that hindered Brian's departure. He said that the cost was an obstacle when going to Jakarta.

Not wanting his efforts and determination to practice so far to be in vain, Brian finally decided to sell his motorcycle. He couldn't help but do this in order to be able to go from Manado to Jakarta to audition for One Pride MMA and prove himself.

"I didn't have money when I wanted to go here (Jakarta) to take part in the audition. Because I didn't have the money, I finally sold my motorbike, seriously. My Ninja (Motorcycle) was sold for audition fees here," Brian recalled.

It is undeniable that Brian, this moment made him feel sad. Moreover, the motorbike he sold was the only means that took him every time he went to practice.

After selling his motorcycle for capital to participate in the MMA audition in Jakarta, Brian's struggles did not go smoothly either. Arriving in Jakarta, he told me that the results of his audition were not too good because he only got grade C.

"When I registered in 2017, if I'm not mistaken, what time was after the FN in Kelapa Gading. Well, (on) Sunday it was an audition and I ended up in grade C," he recalled.

"But now it's ranked 1. Wow, it feels like I was disappointed because I have been selling motorbikes but got grade C. But I proved it and I was given the opportunity by One Pride to play, that's where I proved it," he said proudly.

Despite Brian's long struggle and sacrifice to have to sell his favorite motorbike, his efforts to audition for One Pride MMA at that time slowly paid off.

Starting his career as a taekwondo athlete, now Brian has successfully won the Championship Bantamweight One Pride MMA FN 44. Not only that, but he is also an Indonesian national Kickboxing athlete who had won the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines.
