A Couple Who Stole A 3-kilogram Gas Cylinder Admits That They Need Money For Their Child's Medical Treatment

JAKARTA - Police officers from the Senen sector, Central Jakarta, continue to investigate the motive for the theft of a 3-kilogram gas cylinder by a husband and wife (couple) at a food stall, Jalan Kramat IV Ujung, Senen.

Senen Police Chief, Kompol Ari Susanto, said that the two perpetrators who were arrested were a married couple. When the theft took place, the two perpetrators were with their children.

"For the time being, we are investigating the husband and wife perpetrators, to explore their motives", said the police chief to VOI, Monday, November 1.

Kompol Ari explained, the husband and wife did not work. They admitted that they had to steal because one of their children was sick and needed medical expenses.

"The temporary motive is because of the economy. According to the two perpetrators, (gas cylinders) were sold for food because their son was sick", he said.

The two perpetrators admitted that they had made a mistake and that it was the first time they had stolen.

"We are still doing the investigation, we will inform the progress later", he said.

Previously, it was reported that a woman and her family were caught on a CCTV camera when they stole a 3-kilogram gas cylinder at a food stall, Kramat IV Ujung Street, Senen, Central Jakarta. The CCTV footage has gone viral on Instagram.
