SAR Team Stops Searching For 7 Members Of KM Liberty Who Drowned In A Storm In Bali Waters
DENPASAR - The Denpasar Class A Search and Rescue Office or Basarnas Bali has suspended search and rescue operations for the seven crew members of the KM Liberty I ship who are still missing. KM Liberty I sank in the waters of Bali after being hit by a storm.
The termination of search and rescue operations is in accordance with the provisions of Law Number 29 of 2014 Article 34, which is about the period of seven days for the search and rescue operation.
The head of the Bali Basarnas, Gede Darmada as the SAR Mission Coordinator (SMC) revealed that the search and rescue efforts carried out by the joint SAR team had combed all search areas starting from the waters of the Sapaken Islands, Madura, East Java, to the north of Bali and shifted to the southwest to the east. In the search effort, the joint SAR team deployed 3 KRIs, namely KRI Singa-651, KRI Terapang-684, KRI Pandrong-801. Previously, Basarnas had also deployed KN SAR Arjuna 229 and a Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) unit that had been searching since the incident was reported.
The search effort was also assisted by a speed boat belonging to the Air and Water Police of Buleleng Police.
"All search areas in accordance with the Basarnas Sarmap application have been combed by the joint SAR team, but until the seventh day the search has not yielded any results," said Darmada, Sunday, October 31.
"The cessation of the search carried out by Basarnas is a complete cessation of the deployment of the main equipment. However, monitoring and coordination of stakeholders and ships passing through the shipping lane are expected to be carried out in the hope that later ships will find the whereabouts of the victims," he added.

Basarnas Bali said the search effort could still be reopened if there is new information or signs = indications of finding the victim.
"In the future, Basarnas Bali will continue to monitor and cooperate with coastal radio stations, both those in the Madura Islands, East Java, and NTB to report if they find one or two victims," he said.
"With careful consideration of effective and efficient SAR and available resources, we have stopped the search and rescue operation that has been carried out for seven days and we continue with monitoring," said Darmada.
KM Liberty I sank in a storm in the waters north of Bali. Of the 15 people in KM Liberty I, seven survived, one died, 7 IMRs were missing.
