Anies Baswedan, Sylviana Murni And Haji Lulung Receive Honorary Titles For Betawi Characters
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan received the honorary title of Betawi figure from the Betawi Deliberative Council (Bamus) Customary Council during the inter-time gathering and inauguration of the Bamus Betawi Customary Council for the 2021-2023 period.
Being one of 11 figures who received the honorary title of Betawi figure, Anies admitted that this was a mandate that he had to carry out.
"Let us express our appreciation for the honorary title given, we view this (Honorary Degree) as a mandate that we must protect as well as possible," said Anies at City Hall, Central Jakarta, Sunday, October 31.
Anies also congratulated the Bamus Betawi Traditional Council. He views that in the future the Customary Council will play a very important role in the development of Betawi culture, especially post-pandemic where community interactions will undergo many changes.
"We also congratulate the administrators of the Bamus Betawi traditional assembly, this assembly which will maintain and support a cultural journey that already has a long record. Therefore, being a member of the Customary Council is a big mandate," said Anies.
In the future, Anies hopes that Bamus Betawi can provide greater opportunities for cultural development, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The post-pandemic period, where we can restart, because the format of the interaction changes. While we know that our culture is the result of interaction and Jakarta is the most complex city and is the home of the Betawi people. Therefore, in the future we must seriously develop a culture for the post-pandemic community," he continued.

For information, the honorary title of this Betawi figure is a form of respect for the figures who have contributed to the progress of the Betawi customary law community and the civilization of the City of Jakarta as stated in Regional Regulation Number 4 of 2015 concerning the position of Bamus Betawi.
In addition to Anies, a number of influential figures who received awards include Major General TNI (Ret.) Eddie Marzuki Nalapraya, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Sutiyoso, Fauzi Bowo, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi, Syukron Ma'mun, Abraham Lunggana, Mohamad Taufik, Sylviana Murni, Merry Hotma, and Chaeruddin.
