Just Looking For Restaurant Mistakes In Cengkareng, 5 PP Satpol Immediately Cut Their Salaries

JAKARTA - West Jakarta Head of West Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit denied that five of its members had 'harassed' restaurant owners in Cengkareng because they had violated the PPKM (Community Activity Restrictions). However, the five Civil Service Police Unit proved to be looking for faults with the restaurant owner.

The five have received coaching disciplinary action in the form of salary deductions for allegedly violating procedures while on duty. The penalties vary.

"Some are taking a month's salary cut, while others are taking a three-month salary cut", said West Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit Head, Tamo Sijabat, in West Jakarta, Thursday, October 28.

The prosecution began when a video went viral on social media, after being uploaded by one of the accounts on Instagram. In the viral CCTV camera video footage, two Civil Service Police Unit officers are seen talking to a woman suspected of being a restaurant owner.

However, in the narrative attached to the video, it is stated that the Civil Service Police Unit person asked the restaurant owner for some money for violating the provisions during the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).

Tamo denied there was a forced withdrawal of money by the Civil Service Police Unit. "There is no withdrawal of money. We can confirm it", he said.

Tamo also said the social media account that first uploaded the video had deleted the CCTV camera footage.

Even though its members do not receive money, Tamo still punishes its members for examining people not according to procedures.

Supposedly, during the second level of PPKM, the officers only need to check the restaurant in terms of employee vaccinations, visitor capacity, and operating hours.

"If you ask other than that, whether it's an integrity pact, a sink, a thermogun, for a small business it's the same as finding fault", said Tamo.

Tamo said that this could be used by individuals to suppress and demand illegal levies (extortion) from residents. Therefore, Tamo will evaluate all his staff to ensure that this incident does not happen again.

"I will gather all the Civil Service Police Unit leaders at three in the afternoon. I will give directions and take firm action to all ranks", said Tamo.

Tamo hopes that later on, his subordinates in all areas will work according to procedures and will not use their positions to pressure residents.
