KPK Asks Hulu Sungai Utara Regent Abdul Wahid To Be Prevented From Going Abroad

JAKARTA - Acting Spokesperson for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, confirmed that his party had sent a letter to the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to prohibit the Regent of Hulu Sungai Utara (HSU), Abdul Wahid, from going abroad.

This request was made because the KPK is currently investigating allegations of corruption in the procurement of goods and services at HSU, South Kalimantan, which ensnared the Acting Head of the Public Works Service at the Public Works, Spatial Planning and Land Affairs (PUPRP) Hulu Sungai Utara (HSU) Maliki.

"In order to speed up the investigation process, the KPK on October 7, 2021, has indeed sent a letter to the Directorate General of Immigration of the Indonesian Ministry of Justice and Human Rights to ban them from going abroad," Ali told reporters, Wednesday, October 27.

The ban on going abroad was carried out for six months starting on October 7 and was deemed necessary to facilitate the collection of evidence, including information from Abdul Wahid.

"This prevention abroad is needed so that when the investigation team collects evidence, especially when a summons is made and the examination is carried out, the person concerned remains in Indonesia and cooperates in fulfilling the summons," Ali explained.

Previously reported, the KPK also named two other people as suspects besides Maliki in this case. They are two private parties, namely the Director of CV Hanamas, Marhaini, and the Director of CV Kalpataru, Fachriadi.

The determination of the three suspects was carried out after they were caught in a sting operation (OTT) on Wednesday, September 15. At that time, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) found IDR 345 million, which was suspected to be a commitment fee of 15 percent for the project to be carried out by the two private parties.

The first project is the Rehabilitation of the DIR Kayakah Irrigation Network, Kayakah Village, with an estimated price of IDR 1.9 billion. While the second project is the Irrigation Network Rehabilitation of the Banjang DIR, Karias Dalam Village.
