The Portrait of Behind The Bandung Music Scene Through The Movie 'Galang'

JAKARTA - Rich Music will present a film entitled Galang which will be aired in December 2021.

Directed by Adriyanto Dewo, this film takes the underground music scene in Bandung which was popular among young people in 2008. Galang is his latest work after Mudik in 2019.

Galang tells the story of a man named Galang (Elang El Gibran) who finds out the reason behind the death of his sister, Maryam (Laras Sardi) after watching his favorite band.

Having no clue, Galang is willing to disguise himself as a fan of the band AXFIKSIA and get acquainted with Asmara (Asmara Abigail), the manager of his sister's favorite band. Their closeness began to open up Galang's opportunity to take revenge.

The premise of this interesting story is something the main actors and actresses of Galang have never played before. Therefore, they accepted the offer to play this film.

"It's a big challenge for me. Because first, the genre of the music is not familiar even though it was big in 2008,” said Asmara Abigail at an online press conference on Friday, October 22.

The choice of the city of Bandung is a feature that the city has a number of pop cultures ranging from distributions, independent bands, and others.

Rich Music and Swan Studio have agreed to release Galang in December.

They reasoned because that month is the last time in 2021 and is the right time for the revival of the film industry. "Everything we have planned has to be released in December," said Rich Music.

Besides Elang El Gibran and Asmara Abigail, this film also features musicians from Bandung. Some of them are Tcukimay, Rocket Rockers, Buluk from Superglad, and Iyo Pure Saturday.
