Gibran Starts Anticipating The Potential Third Wave Of COVID-19 At The End Of The Year

SOLO - The city of Solo has begun to take anticipatory steps in dealing with the third wave of the COVID-19 outbreak in Indonesia, which is predicted to occur at the end of this year.

Surakarta Mayor, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, said one of the anticipatory steps taken was to ensure the availability of oxygen for COVID-19 patients.

In addition, he said, other preparations that are of concern include the availability of centralized isolation places and medicine for COVID-19 sufferers. In fact, Gibran claimed that this time he was more prepared to face the possibility of an increase in COVID-19 cases which could occur at any time.

"We don't want it to be like yesterday's delta variant, everything is not ready. Now we are more prepared", he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, October 13.

However, it ensures that it will not limit community activities.

"What needs to be emphasized is that we don't want to limit the activities of residents. We will limit Christmas and New Year's 'Mosok meh'", he said.

Regarding the anticipatory steps, his party has coordinated with the relevant agencies.

"We have discussed it many times, we anticipate Nataru (Christmas and New Year) and we anticipate the third wave as well", he said.

Meanwhile, related to the rate of COVID-19 cases in the city of Solo, he said, in the past month or so, there have been positive developments, both in terms of the relatively low number of new cases and zero deaths due to COVID-19.

"This includes increasing the use of the Peduli Protect application as a 'tracing' effort. Besides, I am still waiting for instructions from the center regarding this matter", he said.
