Syahrial Opens Up About Azis Syamsuddin Introduces KPK Investigators: Bro I Know Someone But Don't Tell The Project

JAKARTA - Azis Syamsuddin - at that time was still the Deputy Speaker of the DPR - was said to want to introduce former Tanjungbalai Mayor M. Syahrial with former KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju as long as he did not tell about the "project".

"At that time, Mr. Azis said, 'Bro, I want to introduce someone, but don't tell about the project, bro,' said Syahrial while testifying via video conference from the Medan Class I Detention Center, quoted by Antara, Monday, October 11.

Syahrial was a witness for two defendants, namely former KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju and advocate Maskur Husain who were charged with receiving a total of Rp11.5 billion from the management of five cases at the KPK. Meanwhile, Robin and Maskur Hadi at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor).

"At that time I was in Jakarta for an activity, at night I visited Mr. Azis Syamsuddin's house at the official house of the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament, Denpasar Raya street," said Syahrial.

Syahrial admitted that he arrived at Azis's house at around 21.30 western Indonesia time and then spoke with Azis about Golkar and Syahrial's plans to take part in the regional elections in December 2020. The meeting was held in October 2020.

"At first I didn't know who was introduced, then finally it was introduced that he was a KPK investigator, he introduced the name 'Robin from the KPK'," said Syahrial.

Syahrial said Robin issued a KPK ID card. After Robin and Syahrial became acquainted, Azis then left the meeting location at the joglo of his official residence.

"Robin said hello, I then introduced myself 'I'm Syahrial', he said 'I'm Robin an investigator, after that, I asked for Mr. Robin's cellphone number. However, because it was too late, it was a short meeting," added Syahrial.

However, Syahrial had asked for Robin's help in monitoring the Tanjungbalai local election.

"I said 'Bro help to monitor the Tanjungbalai local election', then Robin answered 'We are ready to monitor'," said Syahrial.

Syahrial admitted that he asked Robin for help because he had been questioned by the KPK in 2019.

"Especially after the OTT incident in North Labuhan Batu, I received information that the KPK from North Labuhan Batu would go down to Tanjungbalai City, so I said 'Please help bro, monitor it, don't go to Tanjungbalai'," said Syahrial.
