Police Pranked, Youth In BKT Makes False Report Of Being Robbed

JAKARTA - AR, is threatened with criminal prosecution for making a false report that he experienced a burglary in the East Flood Canal (BKT) area, Pondok Kopi, Duren Sawit District, East Jakarta. In his fake report, AR admitted to being robbed on Wednesday, October 6, 2021.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for East Jakarta Police, Commissioner Indra Tarigan said that the Rafiqi robbery report case was fake news.

"He could be a suspect because he has made people nervous by giving false news," said Police Commissioner Indra Tarigan to reporters, Sunday, October 10.

However, Indra did not elaborate on the alleged article and AR's motive for making a false report in the BKT robbery case. He only emphasized that AR's false report was revealed after his staff assisted by Resmob Metro Jaya Police conducted an investigation but did not find any evidence.

Furthermore, the investigator asked AR to re-explain the chronology of the incident, but AR finally admitted that the robbery case he reported on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, was fake.

"Making a false report. We ask (AR) because there is no information from the witness there, so we ask, you are honest about what happened. Then he told me," he said.
