Falling From Motorbike, A Robber Did Not Move, Surrounded By Residents, Beaten And Paraded By Crowds

JAKARTA – Residents of Pekapuran 3 street, Tanah Cereal, Tambora District, West Jakarta vented their anger when they caught a mugger who fell from a motorbike while running away.

Tambora Police Chief, Commissioner Moh Faruk Rozi said residents were venting their anger by hitting the perpetrators of the robbery. Luckily, they managed to catch the culprit.

"NA (the perpetrator) was successfully secured by the police from the tantrums of the masses. The perpetrator was taken to the Tambora Police for further processing," said Commissioner Faruk Rozi to reporters, Sunday, October 10.

Faruk explained that the incident began when the victim, known as Pui Pun Sjin, was sunbathing in the morning while using his cellphone with his left hand in front of the house.

Suddenly, the perpetrator on a motorbike grabbed the victim from behind and immediately took the victim's cellphone.

After getting the stolen cellphone, the perpetrator immediately stepped on the gas and fled. That's when the victim screamed.

"Hearing the screams (of snatching), the residents helped chase the perpetrator," said Faruk Rozi.

Less than 100 meters the perpetrator's motorcycle fell. The perpetrator ran again to save himself from being chased by the crowd. However, residents who scattered from their homes followed. The perpetrator was eventually surrounded and caught by the masses.

"The perpetrator and evidence were brought to the Tambora Police. The perpetrator was charged with Article 365 of the Criminal Code," he said.
