Formula E Doesn't Work At Monas, PDIP Criticizes Anies: How Can You Say A Successful Race If The Venue Is Still Unknown?
JAKARTA - The DKI Provincial Government has canceled the National Monument (Monas) to be the location for next year's Formula E. This has received criticism from the PDIP Faction DPRD.
Ima Mahdiah, a member of the PDIP faction of the DKI DPRD, doubts that this electric car racing event will be successfully held next year. Because, at this time the location that will be used as a circuit has not been confirmed.
"This is the most ironic thing about the venue. How can they say this race will be a success if the venue alone is still unknown?" said Ima when contacted, Thursday, October 7th.
The reclamation island was mentioned as one of the five alternative locations for the Formula E circuit. Ima again questioned whether the reclamation island, which had been opposed by DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, had now been recognized or not.
"Is the reclamation beach now recognized by the provincial government as an icon of Jakarta?" she said.
Then, Ima also emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government should not forget to take into account all expenses for organizing Formula E, including the impact of congestion caused.
"If they calculate the economic impact as a profit component in the Formula E race, they should also calculate the opportunity cost lost due to traffic jams that will arise during the preparation and racing period," said Ima.
"All of this can be made clear with the interpellation rights of council members, so that the feasibility study and other agreement documents can also be accessed by the public," she continued.

Then, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria briefly revealed a number of alternative locations, including the reclamation island, namely Island D or Maju Beach and G Island or Joint Beach. In addition, the Senayan area is also one of the circuit choices.
