Police Investigate Suicide Cases Of Elementary School Students In Sidikalang, North Sumatra, Who Are Reportedly Stressed By Schoolwork

MEDAN - Police are investigating the death of a student at an elementary school in Sidikalang, Dairi Regency, North Sumatra, with the initials AS. This student reportedly died after committing suicide allegedly due to stress due to schoolwork.

"We are still investigating, but the news circulating is like that. This is the second case that happened, where previously he committed suicide. But in this case, it does not mean that the school is at fault", said Sidikalang Police Chief, Iptu Sukanto Berutu, quoted by Antara, Monday, October 4.

He said the student committed suicide by drinking herbicides on Monday, September 20.

The victim's parents who knew about it immediately took AS to the nearest hospital for medical treatment. After three days of treatment, AS was allowed to go home. However, a few days later, AS conditions declined again.

"Then by protection, the child was taken for medical treatment again. However, yesterday the child died", said Iptu Sukanto.
