Park Hae Soo Didn't Expect 'Squid Game''s Popularity Would Go Worldwide

JAKARTA - Netflix's original series,  Squid Game is being talked about. Its unique story keeps audiences around the world talking about the series.

Squid Game tells the story of 456 participants who take part in a series of games to win 45.6 billion won. They not only compete but their lives are also at stake.

Park Hae Soo as the main character, Jo Sang Woo knows the popularity of Squid Game around the world. Currently, the series still occupies the first position on Netflix in the United States and Top 3 in 83 countries.

"Thanks to the popularity of the drama, I received congratulations from all over the world on the birth of my first child," Park Hae Soo quoted OSEN as saying today, October 3.

Park Hae Soo had anticipated the popularity of the Squid Game. According to him, although the Squid Game story was adapted from a traditional South Korean game, he felt that everyone would connect with the story.

“I also think the series will be a success because (the story) is about extreme play. However, I didn't think it would be this big. I started to feel his popularity after receiving a lot of messages from people abroad,” he continued.

"I'm grateful for everyone's reaction to Squid Game. It felt like everyone was talking about me doing well and I wasn't wrong. I learned many things while filming and new things because this project received love from the audience. I am a student at 41 years old.”

Many asked for the continuation of Squid Game and Park Hae Soo replied that he couldn't appear because of the character but he hopes to appear in the series again.

“Who knows, the director could make a prequel. I hope I can appear in Sung Gi Hoon's dream (Lee Jung Jae's character)," he said.
