Anxiety, Monkeys Enter Settlement, Take Food At Home, Even Chase Residents At Tebing Tinggi

MEDAN - A herd of wild monkeys entered and disturbed residents in Neighborhood 3, Bandar Utama Village, Tebing Tinggi District, Tebing Tinggi City, North Sumatra. As a result, the local community became restless.

A resident, Eliana (58), said the wild monkeys even entered the house and took food. In fact, the wild monkey did not hesitate to chase and bite residents who passed on the road.

"I was chased and bitten by the monkey", she said, Thursday, September 30.

According to her, herds of wild monkeys have been in the settlements for a dozen years and often damage the zinc and asbestos of houses.

"It is very disturbing for residents, we ask the mayor to take action so that the community of Neighborhood 3 can be calm", she continued.

Eliana asked the North Sumatra BKSDA (Natural Resources Conservation Center) to evacuate the wild monkey. So that residents can live peacefully without being disturbed by a herd of wild monkeys.

"We ask the North Sumatra Natural Resources Conservation Center to immediately evacuate the wild monkey because it has disturbed the residents", she said.

Separately, Head of the Fire and Rescue Department of the Tebing Tinggi Fire Service, Hersan, said efforts were made by evictions and providing food.

He said his party had coordinated with the North Sumatra Natural Resources Conservation Center regarding assistance for the evacuation of wild monkeys. But so far there has been no follow-up.

"There must be hundreds, maybe this makes them not take action", said Hersan.
