Gatot Nurmantyo's Old Video Lectured About The Rise Of The G30S PKI Viral, Called Fatal And Fooling The Public
JAKARTA - An old video of former TNI Commander General (Ret.) Gatot Nurmantyo's statement about the rise of the PKI has gone viral on social media, Twitter. The video with a duration of 2.20 seconds was retweeted by the Executive Director of Indonesian Political Indicators (IPI), Burhanuddin Muhtadi through his account, @BurhanMuhtadi.
This video shows Gatot's statement when appearing at the Rosi event with the theme "Siapa Mau Nobar Film G30SPKI" which was uploaded on the KOMPASTV Youtube channel, September 28, 2018.
"Every September GN appears, I don't get tired of retweeting Usman Hamid lecturing the father", tweeted Burhanuddin, quoted on Tuesday, September 28. This video clip was originally uploaded by the @budiadi**** account. As of this writing, there have been 6,214 likes, 494 thousand views, and 3,071 Re-Tweets.
Initially, Rosiana Silalahi as the host asked Gatot, who was still serving as the TNI Commander. "How is there a strong indication, not just paranoid or a figment? (Regarding the rise of the PKI)", asked Rosi.
Gatot replied that there was a tremendous power after the reformation where the cultural roots, Indonesian nationalism were removed first.
"It's a system such as Indonesian language education, religion, manners, basic subject knowledge, and if we get a red score we can't go to class, it will be eliminated", answered Gatot.
"Secondly, the history of the G30S PKI rebellion was erased. If not the great power, what was its purpose?", Gatot explained again.
Rosi reiterated that the meaning of the statement about the subjects being omitted was the tactics of those affiliated with the PKI?
"Yes, that's the strategy. Now that's a series of demands to revoke the TAP MPRS Year 66, who else if not, who else if not the PKI? Then the abolition of the history of the PKI rebellion, who else if not the PKI? Then about stopping film screenings (G30SPKI) so far, who have done that if not the PKI?" explained Gatot.
Well, this statement was refuted by Usman Hamid as Director of Amnesty International Indonesia. Usman said that Gatot was wrong because the logic used jumps and simplifies the problem.
There are two things to note in Gatot's statement. First, the G30SPKI is a betrayal and the second is an understanding of communism-Marxism. This G30SPKI film is not true if it has been shown since the new order.
"Because it was only produced in 1981 to 1998 in the era of 1998 to 1999, the era of Mr. Habibie's government. Mr. Gatot's senior is Mr. Yunus Yosfiah (Lieutenant General of the TNI (Ret.) Muhammad Yunus Yosfiah) as the Minister of Information who announced that the film was abolished and The obligation to show films every year is abolished", said Usman Hamid.

As a result, Gatot's statement that there were certain parties affiliated with the PKI group as the mastermind behind the film's termination was a big mistake. Yunus Yosfiah, a general of the Indonesian Army, is unlikely to be affiliated with the banned group.
Next was the Minister of Education in the Habibie era, Juwono Sudarsono, who reviewed a special team to examine the histories, school history books that were considered adherents of incorrect historical content.
"Is Mr. Jono a PKI? Isn't he an educated person, professor? Mr. Yunus Yosfiah PKI? He's not an army general, how come that kind of logic builds this kind of quasi negative without being based on facts", said Usman Hamid.
Then came the era of Abdurrahman Wahid, or who is familiarly called Gus Dur, who tried to revoke the TAP MPRS (Decree of the People's Consultative Assembly) which prohibited Marxism-Leninism because it was considered the basis for discrimination against so many innocent people.
"Gus Dur is the former chairman of the PBNU who led the largest organization in Islam. Gus Dur is not the PKI, Gus Dur is the son of a Kiai, Gus Dur himself is a Kiai. So it is wrong to build logic as if asking for the abolition of TAP MPRS must be the PKI. So it is a fatal mistake, it fools our society", said Usman.
