Police Will Check Health Worker Gerald Sokoy On KKB Papua's Attack Led By Lamek Taplo

JAYAPURA - The Director of Criminal Investigation at the Papua Police, Grand Commissioner Faizal Rahmadani, said investigators had scheduled an examination of the health worker Gerald Sokoy, who was handed over by the KKB to the Gunung Bintang Regional Government, Saturday, September 25.

"Indeed, we have scheduled to ask for information from the person concerned, Gerald Sokoy in these weeks. Apart from Gerald, we will also ask for information from four health workers who work at the Kiwirok Health Center who were injured and were being treated at Marthen Indey Hospital, Jayapura," said Grand Commissioner Faizal. in Jayapura, reported by Antara, Sunday, September 26.

He said that previously, investigators had asked for information from five health workers who were not hospitalized. From their confession, it was revealed that some of the arsonists were known and were residents of Kiwirok.

"It is true that among the perpetrators there are several people who are known to the health workers," said Faisal.

Faizal, who is also the commander of the Nemangkawi Law Enforcement Task Force, admitted that in order to restore security in Kiwirok, he had added more personnel.

How many personnel will be added is not yet certain, considering that Sunday, September 26, there was a shootout that killed Bhayangkara Dua Muhammad Kurniadi, said Grand Commissioner Faizal.

Earlier on Tuesday, September 21, Soldier Ida Bagus Putu, a member of Infantry Battalion 403/WP, died in a shootout with KKB in Kiwirok while securing the airport for the evacuation of the body of health worker Gabriela Meilan.

A health worker, Grabiela Meilan, died because she fell into a ravine and was abused while trying to run away to escape persecution by KKB members, while four other people who were victims of attacks by KKB members had to undergo treatment at Marthen Indey Hospital in Jayapura.

The security of the Kiwirok District has been disturbed since Monday, September 13, when the armed criminal group (KKB) Ngalum Kupel led by Lamek Taplo was involved in a gun battle with the security forces.

In the shootout, a soldier was injured, KKB operations commander Ngalum Kupel Elly M Bidana was killed, and two KKB members were injured.

KKB members were also reported to have set fire to public facilities and attacked health workers in Kiwirok.
