Swimming In Ciliwung, A 13-year-old Boy From Johar Baru Drowns

JAKARTA - Residents of the Ciliwung River Inspection Street, in the direction of Kwitang, Senen District, Central Jakarta, were shocked by the disappearance of a 13-year-old child who drowned in the Ciliwung River, Senen District.

According to witness testimony, Rahmat (38), initially the boy swam with his friends at the time. Then one of the groups of children was swept away by the current and drowned.

"We were swimming at first. The information was that the children were from Johar Baru. They swam and finally one of the groups of children drowned", said Rahmat at the scene, Wednesday, September 22.

Then some of the victim's friends shouted for help so the residents could hear. Residents then reported to the nearest fire department for rescue.

"Earlier this was searched by firefighters using 2 rubber boats. Officers continued to search along the Ciliwung River in the direction of Kwitang", he said.

The search continues by the Menteng Sector Fire Department.
