Defendant Of 46 Kg Of Methamphetamine In Depok Sentenced To Death

DEPOK - The Depok District Court has sentenced Muhammad Abidin aka Neji alias Eddy Pranoto to death, a narcotics dealer with 46 kilograms of methamphetamine as evidence.

The 36-year-old defendant was found guilty of violating the provisions of the law as regulated and threatened with imprisonment in Article 114 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 Paragraph (1) of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

"Declaring that the defendant Muhammad Abidin alias Neji alias Eddy Pranoto has been legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of conspiracy without rights or against the law as a liaison in the sale and purchase of Narcotics Category I, not plants weighing more than 5 (five) grams," said Chief Justice Darmo, Tuesday, September 21, in the main courtroom of the Depok District Court.

In its decision, the Panel of Judges also stated that they agreed with the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU). Previously, Public Prosecutor Hengki Charles Pangaribuan demanded that the defendant be sentenced to death.

"The defendant Muhammad Abidin aka Neji alias Eddy Pranoto was sentenced to the death penalty. Ordered the defendant to remain in detention until the execution process was carried out," he said.

Regarding the evidence, the Panel of Judges determined, two black suitcases with the Polo Twin brand, two units of Xiaomi and Nokia mobile phones, one KrisChef red cream scale, one red backpack, one black Biagy brand wallet in which there is one BCA ATM card and one ID card in the name of Eddy Pranoto, were seized for destruction.

Meanwhile, the evidence of methamphetamine found, the Panel of Judges said that 21 packs of code (A.01 to A.21) contained white crystals with a total net weight of 2.9865 grams, given the evidence number 0132/2021/OF and 23 packs with the code (B.01 to B.23) containing white crystals with a total net weight of 3.4751 grams, given the evidence number 0133/2021/OF, declared confiscated for destruction.

"For evidence in the form of cash amounting to IDR 8,500,000, and cash as much as IDR 2,500,000, because it has a declared economic value, confiscated for the state," he said.

The Panel of Judges also gave the same right to the Public Prosecutor, which Hengki Charles also answered for seven days.
