Jokowi Signs Presidential Decree On Funding For Islamic Boarding Schools, PBNU: Evidence Of The State's Commitment
JAKARTA - The Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) appreciates President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who has issued Presidential Regulation (Perpres) number 82 of 2021 regarding funding for the implementation of Islamic boarding schools.
"We welcome and are grateful for the issuance of the presidential regulation. This is a blessing for all of us", said PBNU Secretary-General Helmy Faishal Zaini, in his statement, Wednesday, September 15.
He explained that pesantren is one of the roots of education for the Indonesian Islamic community, which has a long and close history with this republic. With this presidential regulation, PBNU hopes that pesantren will continue to exist and be consistent in educating the children.
"The issuance of the presidential regulation is proof that the state has a strong commitment to the sustainability and preservation of the educational treasures in Islamic boarding schools", he said.
In addition, said the member of the PKB Party faction in the House of Representatives (DPR), the students can also take part in the development and compete globally.

He hopes that this momentum will be a point to strengthen joint commitments in advancing education and da'wah.
"In order to promote moderate education and da'wah as has been developed in Islamic boarding schools throughout the state", Helmy concluded.
It is known that President Jokowi has signed Presidential Regulation 82/2021 concerning Funding for Islamic Boarding Schools, Tuesday, September 15. The presence of this Presidential Regulation is expected to further improve the quality of Islamic boarding school education in Indonesia because there are new regulations that strengthen local governments to assist in budget allocation.
