Head of the Emergency Sub-Section (Kasubid) of the South Kalimantan BPBD Saefudin Dinarja from Kasongan, Central Kalimantan on Friday said that since Wednesday, September 8, he and 11 BPBD members have evacuated dozens of residents trapped by the flood.

"After taking a short break at the LPTQ Building, Katingan Regency, then we evacuated eight residents on Jl Pahlawan, consisting of three children, one of whom was a toddler and five adults. Our evacuation was carried out from 21.00 p.m. to 00.00 a.m. local time", he said.

The next day, he said, the South Kalimantan BPBD Team continued the evacuation on Jl Bukit Raya, Kasongan Lama village, which is also in Katingan Hilir District, Katingan Regency.

At that location, he said, the team also distributed 500 packages of packed lunches. "The number of affected residents in the area is more than 300 families", said Dinarja as reported by Antara.

Based on the monitoring of the South Kalimantan BPBD, the water depth varies from 50 cm to 2 meters with a fairly heavy current.

Of the 12 South Kalimantan BPBD Teams who jumped in to help flood victims, three of them were women, namely Sely, Aisyah, and Yasmin. "Our three female volunteers are assisted in a soup kitchen built by the Social Service Office of Katingan Regency", explained Dinarja.

South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor expressed his appreciation for BPBD's speed in responding to his instructions. "I always remind SKPD to be sensitive and move quickly if a disaster occurs, including helping neighboring areas if there is a disaster", he said.

The governor also said that the flood disaster that occurred in Central Kalimantan must be addressed with mutual cooperation and brotherly cohesiveness. "I am also very grateful if there are other components of the community or the district/city government to help", he said regarding the flood relief assistance in several areas in Central Kalimantan.
