Swim In The River, 5-year-old Boy In Simalungun Dies After Being Swept Away
MEDAN - The joint SAR team managed to find the body of the Purba Officer (5), a boy from Pematang Raya District, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra, who was swept away in the Bahkarai Simalungun River.
Head of the Operations Section of the Medan SAR Office, Zul Indra, through the Medan SAR Public Relations Officer, Sariman Sitorus, said the victim was found on Monday, September 6, at around 13.20 local time.
"The victim was found dead, about 700 meters from the initial location, the victim was swept away by the river current," said Sariman, Monday, September 6.

Sariman explained that the incident began when the victim and four of his friends were playing in the Bahkarai River, Sinohydro Hydropower Area. However, the alleged victim who could not swim was swept away by the river current.
"Friends of the victim tried to reach the victim, but to no avail. Until finally, they reported to local residents," he explained.
Currently, said Sariman, the victim was evacuated by a joint team and has been handed over to the victim's family for burial.
