The Reliability Of Electricity Guaranteed, PLN Secures Coal Supply

JAKARTA - In an effort to ensure the reliability of national electricity and overcome fluctuations in commodity prices, PT PLN (Persero) continues to secure long-term coal supply from mining issuer PT Bukit Asam Tbk.

PLN Deputy President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said the company is looking for the best solution regarding reliable primary energy supply, one of which is coal with a long-term cooperation orientation.

"With price fluctuations, of course, we hope that coal supply in the future can be stable," Darmawan said in a statement in Jakarta, Sunday.

PLN appreciates the cooperation between state companies with Bukit Asam and KAI in supporting energy supply in Indonesia.

Darmawan explained that in the future the country is growing and needs electricity reliability, so PLN needs support from various parties in order to provide the best service for the community in the electricity sector.

"In order for future supply to be more reliable and prices stable so that electricity services can be even better, PLN ensures long-term supply of coal. This collaboration with PTBA can be long-term," he said.

"We analyze technically and commercially as well as risks. This will be followed by a study with PLN and PTBA and about transportation with KAI," added Darmawan.

Previously on August 19, 2021, three SOEs agreed to maintain the supply of coal for Indonesia's electricity system, namely PLN, PTBA, and KAI signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Strategic Cooperation of SOEs for Supply Chain Security for National Electricity Resilience.

The synergy of these three state-owned companies is to ensure the supply chain of coal, as well as a tangible manifestation of the role of SOEs to improve people's welfare through the reliability and continuity of providing electrical energy for the entire community.

This synergy is also expected to be a good opportunity for all parties to develop their business and increase their contribution and strengthen the role of BUMN as an economic driver in Indonesia.
