Securing The Availability Of The COVID-19 Vaccine, 207 Thousand Doses Of AstraZeneca Arrived In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Indonesia has again received 207.000 doses of vaccine for COVID-19 from AstraZeneca. This vaccine is Dutch government assistance from a bilateral scheme.

"The government has again brought in vaccines to secure the availability of COVID-19 vaccines in Indonesia", said Minister of Communications and Information Johnny G Plate in a written statement, Saturday, September 4.

With the arrival of hundreds of thousands of doses of the COVID-19 vaccine today, the total vaccine that has been received in bulk or finished form is around 220.4 million doses.

Johnny said that sufficient stock and fast distribution are the main keys to accelerating vaccine delivery in the community. This is the reason why the government continues to seek vaccine stocks through various means, such as bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

He also said that vaccinations needed to be implemented quickly and their scope expanded to strengthen pandemic control. Moreover, the COVID-19 vaccine is an important effort to start coexistence with this virus.

However, Johnny reminded the public that they still had to carry out health protocols in a disciplined manner. According to him, the vaccine does provide protection against the virus but must still be maximized by using masks, keeping distance, and washing hands.

"Strengthening the availability of stocks and accelerating the distribution of vaccines in an effective manner are the main keys to handling the pandemic. However, the public must always remember that to maximize this, health protocols must be strengthened, starting with wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands", he said.

In addition, Johnny also invited the public to actively participate in dealing with the pandemic by using the PeduliLindungi application. This is important for strengthening tracking and anticipating the spread of COVID-19.
