Warning For Aceh, Only This Province Has A Tendency To Increase COVID-19 Cases

JAKARTA - Head of the Data and Information Technology Division of the COVID-19 Task Force, Dewi Nur Aisyah, said that almost all provinces showed a decline in active COVID-19 cases except Aceh.

"Aceh Province has an upward trend, but you have to be careful. For other provinces, progress has been quite good", Dewi said in a virtual discussion, Wednesday, September 1.

Dewi said, nationally, active cases of COVID-19 have decreased by 65.81 percent since the spike in cases two months ago.

Dewi said the spike in cases occurred since June 1, 2021, reaching its peak on July 24, 2021, up 466 percent or 5 times to 572,132 active cases, then decreasing consistently to now 196,281 active cases.

"Two weeks ago it was still in the 40s, now it has fallen more than 65.81 from the peak, it's more than half, although the number is still at 196,281 active cases", she said.

Unfortunately, Aceh had a very slight decline in active COVID-19 cases from the spike in cases, which was down 2.03 percent. This is due to the fluctuating condition of case development in Aceh.

"Aceh has been at the peak, dropped, and then rose again. From the peak condition of Aceh, it was only minus 2 percent. You have to be a little careful because it fluctuates", said Dewi.

Then, Dewi said that other provinces are also still showing fluctuations in the decline in active COVID-19 cases, namely North Kalimantan, Papua, and North Sumatra.

"Some have decreased by more than 60 percent, some are still in the '50s, '40s of percent. But some are still volatile, such as North Kalimantan, Papua, and North Sumatra", said Dewi.

Since the spike in cases two months ago until August 31, North Kalimantan only experienced a decrease in active cases by 41.74 percent, Papua decreased by 18.89 percent, and North Sumatra by 25.96 percent.
