Clashes At Krisnadwipayana University Bekasi Are Not Students But Mass Organizations, 1 Dies, 15 People Arrested

BEKASI - Bekasi City Metropolitan Police have arrested a dozen members of two community organizations. They were arrested for being involved in a clash at the Krisnadwipayana University (Unkris) Rectorate Building, in Jaticempaka Village, Pondok Gede District.

Head of the Bekasi Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Aloysius Suprijadi, said that of the two mass organizations involved in the clashes, the officers arrested 15 people.

"We are investigating their role, who did it, and the evidence", he said, in Bekasi, West Java, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, September 1.

He explained that the clash of the two mass organizations resulted in one death and three injuries. The victim who died was suspected of having been stabbed by a sharp weapon from another member of the mass organization.

"So I'm back to straighten it out, not student clashes, but mass organizations clashes", he said again.

Officers also secured several evidence of sharp weapons in the form of sickles to stones from yesterday's clashes. Police are still searching for other perpetrators involved in the clashes.

"The 15 people who have been detained are still under investigation status, they will be informed later when there is a development of the case", he also said.

 

Clashes between members of the two mass organizations occurred between supporters of the new rector Ayub Muktiono and supporters of the old rector Abdul Rivai. The new Krisnadwipayana University Chancellor, Ayub Muktiono used the security services of the NGO Satria Banten with a mass of 70 people, while the old Unkris Chancellor Abdul Rivai brought the Ambon Macan group of 100 people.

In the clashes, members of the mass organization who were injured, namely victim EW suffered a cut on the upper left lip due to stone-throwing, victim BD suffered a wound on the right palm of 10 centimeters due to a sharp object, and the victim M suffered a broken left hand and stab wounds. on the left heel, while one victim died without an identity.

The clashes also caused nine motorcycles to be badly damaged and one Toyota Avanza four-wheeled vehicle to have its rear glass shattered due to stones being thrown. Currently, the conditions at the location of the clashes are safe, although, on Tuesday, August 31, the afternoon until evening was still tense and was guarded by the police.

This incident began when a mob from the Satria Banten NGO was having lunch in the Unkris Campus area, not long after suddenly a group of mobs from Ambon Macan came into the campus area and immediately attacked until a commotion broke out.

At 13.00 WIB, the officers managed to secure the situation inside the Krisnadwipayana University, but at 14.00 WIB there was another commotion inside the university. Both sides attacked each other using stones and sharp weapons.
