JAKARTA - PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol Tbk (PJAA) in the General Meeting of Shareholders appointed Thomas Lembong as President Commissioner. So what is the reason why one of the DKI Jakarta Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD), under Governor Anies Baswedan, appointed the former Minister of Trade and Head of BKPM?
Acting Head of BP BUMD DKI Jakarta Province, Riyadi said the appointment of Thomas Lembong as President Commissioner could not be separated from Ancol's need for a wide network for business development investment. Also, his competence has served as Minister of Trade and Head of the Capital Market Supervisory Agency (BKPM).
And, he continued, more than 20 years serving in the investment banking and hedge fund industry, including Morgan Stanley and Farallon Capital LLC. In addition to his career journey, Thomas is also an alumnus of Harvard University whose knowledge is expected to be useful for the sustainability of Jaya Ancol.
"This is a form of refreshment and regeneration of leadership, and it is common in a company or agency. Either because of promotion or rotation, along with the demands and development of the company", said Riyadi, in a press release on the PPID Jakarta website, quoted Tuesday, August 31.
Thomas Lembong's brief profile
Thomas Trikasih Lembong served as Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) from 27 July 2016 to 20 October 2019. At that time he replaced Franky Sibarani. He has also been the Minister of Trade replacing Rahmat Gobel.
The name Thomas Lembong is so well known in the professional world. The portfolio is so long. The man who is familiarly called Tom Lembong started his career at Morgan Stanley and Company as a Sales and Trading Associate. Later, he worked at Morgan Stanley's Equity Division (Singapore), served as Senior Manager at Makindo's Corporate Finance Department, and Investment Banker from Deutsche Securities Indonesia.

Meanwhile, when he was in high school, Tom moved to Boston, United States. He then earned a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and Urban Planning when he graduated from Harvard University in 1994. He was also selected as a Young Global Leader (YGL) by the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2008.
