BMKG Urges Residents Of Ciayumajakuning To Beware Of Strong Winds

CIREBON - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of Kertajati Station, Majalengka Regency, West Java, appealed to residents in Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka and Kuningan (Ciayumajakuning) Regencies/Cities to be aware of strong winds.

"We urge residents to remain vigilant during strong winds that can reach 56 kilometers per hour," said the weather forecaster for the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) at Kertajati Station Ahmad Faa Iziyn in Majalengka, quoted by Antara, Friday, August 27.

Faiz said the increase in wind speed in the Ciayumajakuning area will occur from Friday, August 27 until the next few days.

According to him, the maximum wind speed in the area can reach 30 knots or 56 kilometers per hour, so that it can potentially cause fallen trees, fallen billboards, dust, and others.

"This wind speed can uproot trees, knock down billboards and others, so residents must be vigilant," he said.

The increase in wind speed conditions in the Ciayumajakuning area, Faiz continued, was caused by a significant difference in air pressure in the southern and northern regions of the Indonesian equator.

Where the formation of a low-pressure center in the northern region of the Indonesian equator reaches 993 hPa, while in the southern region of the Indonesian equator a high-pressure center begins to form (1027 hPa).

Faiz said that there is a significant difference in pressure, supported by local factors of Mount Ciremai, so that it affects the increase in wind speed.

"Based on observations from the BMKG Kertajati Meteorological Station, today the wind direction is generally from the south with a maximum speed of 21 knots or 39 kilometers per hour and has the potential to reach 56 kilometers per hour," he said.
