ASN Of Central Java Provincial Government Buys 1.1 Tons Of Chili To Help Farmers
SEMARANG - State civil servants (ASN) within the Central Java Provincial Government bought up 1.1 tons of chili to help farmers who suffered losses due to falling prices.
"The purchase of chili directly from farmers is a follow-up to the Governor's instructions to help farmers when the price of chili plummets," said Peni Rahayu, Assistant for Economics and Development at the Regional Secretariat of Central Java Province, in Semarang, quoted by Antara, Friday, August 27.
Peni revealed that the ASN of the Central Java Provincial Government had purchased 810 kilograms of chili on Thursday, August 26, and today again doing the same thing as much as 300 kg of chili so that the total was recorded at 1.1 tons of chili.
"The chili purchased from the farmer is divided into small packages, one package containing 1 kg of curly chili and 1 kg of red cayenne pepper is sold for Rp20,000," he said.
In addition to ASN in the Central Java Provincial Government, the action of buying chili from farmers will be carried out by ASN in the district/city as a follow-up to the letter from the Central Java Regional Secretary to the regent/mayor.
"The Secretary of State has issued a letter to the regent/mayor regarding an appeal to buy farmers' chilies. For the Central Java Provincial Government, the purchase of farmer's chilies will be coordinated by the Distanbun and Dishanpan," continued Peni.

Previously, it was reported that Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo asked ASN to buy chilies whose selling price in the market has fallen to Rp7,000 per kilogram.
The price of cayenne pepper at the farmer level in a number of areas in Central Java in the past month has fallen so that farmers are threatened with losses.
In July 2021, the price of cayenne pepper reached Rp40,000 per kilogram, but gradually decreased from Rp5,500 to Rp7,000 per kilogram at the farmer level.
