Man In North Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra Allegedly Forcing His Toddler To Smoke, Police Intervene

MEDAN - A video of a man in North Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra, who is suspected of forcing his son to smoke, has gone viral on social media.

In the uploaded narration, it is stated that the man with the initials SM forced his 2-year-old son to smoke with the aim that SM's ex-wife with the initials NH would reconcile.

From the information gathered, SM allegedly threatened to act violently if NH did not want to reconcile. All actions related to his son were videoed by SM and sent to his ex-wife, NH.

NH then uploaded the video to social media. The viral video of a toddler being forced to smoke is being investigated by the Labuhanbatu Police.

"The information has been received, it is in the investigation stage", said the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Labuhanbatu Police, AKP Parikhesit, confirmed by VOI, Wednesday, August 25.

Currently, said Parikhesit, his party is looking for facts on the ground. SM men could be charged with the Child Protection Act if the video is true.

"We will act if it is true what is said in the upload. The parents can be subject to the Child Protection Act", said Parikhesit.
