Waiting For The Government's Decision On PPKM Level 2-4 In Java-Bali Which Ends Today
JAKARTA - Today, Monday, August 23, is the deadline for implementing level-based Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in Java-Bali and several areas outside the two islands. The fate of the PPKM policy will be decided by the government tonight.
The policy, which is the direction of President Joko Widodo, was delivered by the Java-Bali PPKM Coordinator, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut B. Pandjaitan in Jakarta, on Monday, August 16.
"For this reason, this good momentum must be maintained. From all evaluations carried out, at the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, PPKM Levels 4, 3, and 2 in Java Bali will be extended until August 23, 2021," he said.
During PPKM on August 16-23, the government saw a decrease in COVID-19 cases. On this basis, the government through the Ministry of Home Affairs issued Inmendagri Number 34 of 2021 to conduct trials of implementing health protocols in shopping centers/malls/trade centers.
This Inmendagri is implemented in DKI Jakarta Province, Bandung City, Semarang City, Surabaya City, Tangerang City, Tangerang Regency, South Tangerang City, Bekasi City, Depok City, Cimahi City, Bogor Regency, Bekasi Regency, West Bandung Regency, Bandung Regency, Regency of Sumedang, Sidoarjo Regency, Mojokerto Regency, Lamongan Regency, Gresik Regency, and Bangkalan Regency.
The rules read:
1) Activities at shopping centers/malls/trade centers are allowed to operate 50 percent from 10.00 to 20.00 western Indonesia time with the health protocol regulated by the Ministry of Trade.
2) It is mandatory to use the Peduli Protect application to screen all visitors and employees of related shopping centers/malls/trade centers.
3) Restaurants/restaurants, cafes in shopping centers/malls/trade centers can accept dine-in with a maximum capacity of 25 percent, one table for a maximum of two people, and a maximum meal time of 30 minutes.
4) Residents under the age of 12 are prohibited from entering shopping centers/malls/trade centers.
5) Cinemas, children's playgrounds, and entertainment venues in shopping centers/malls/trade centers are closed.

Previously, the Government implemented PPKM based on Level in Java-Bali for the last five weeks. This policy was implemented due to the spike in COVID-19 cases from late June to July 2021.
Initially, the Government implemented Emergency PPKM on 3-20 July. After the Emergency PPKM period ended, the government then used the term PPKM Level 4.
This policy was first implemented on 20-25 July, continued on 26 July-2 August, 10-16 August, and 16-23 August.
The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive COVID-19 cases, Sunday, August 22 at 12.00 western Indonesia time. There was an addition of 12,408 cases. This figure is lower than the record on Saturday, August 21, 2021, as many as 16,744 cases.
The report also revealed that the daily cure rate increased by 24,276 people with a mortality rate of 1,030 cases.
