Handling The Pandemic Through Authentic Work, Anies Baswedan: Don't Use Cosmetics, Don't Use Touch Ups

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that the handling of COVID-19 cannot be done haphazardly and must be based on a good management system. He also said that the handling of the virus cannot be based on imaging but must work based on authentic data.

"I said that dealing with COVID is not cosmetic, don't use touch-ups. If you work to deal with the pandemic, you use authentic work so that later (the results, ed) can be seen on the graph," said Anies in an online discussion, Sunday, August 22.

He also said that the handling of the pandemic could not just be taking pictures and claiming that the work had been done. According to Anies, a system is needed to ensure that the pandemic is under control.

Armed with this, Anies then set up a system in Jakarta to handle the COVID-19 pandemic. He also said the system had been in the works since the virus began to spread or around March 2020.

"(Dealing with the pandemic, ed) can't use photos, can't use attractions, so build a system, build correct data," said the former Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud).

Anies then explained that the system he created was actually based on distribution management and data management information from the coordination of the Puskesmas with regional hospitals.

Although initially the system was used to monitor the distribution of APBD and logistics needs. Now, the system has been developed for the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccine in DKI Jakarta.

"So if you want to vaccinate 2 million people, God willing, it will be finished. But this did not suddenly appear because it went through a long preparation process," said Anies.

"Now, thank God, this target is going well. Again, if we build a system it cannot be imaged," he concluded.
